Born and raised in Antwerp, Belgium, Thierry Boucquey received his B.A. in Romance Philology from the University of Louvain, Belgium, and an M.A. and a Ph.D. in French from the University of California, Irvine. He is Professor of French Studies and Humanities at Scripps College in the Claremont University Consortium since 1986, and was Associate Dean of Faculty from 2006 to 2012. He has published Mirages de la farce (1991), Six Medieval French Farces (1999), 100 Games and Activities for the Introductory Foreign Language Classroom (2007), and Les Royaumes dorés (2012), was the General Editor of two volumes of the Encyclopedia of World Writers (2005), contributed chapters to books, and published numerous articles in scholarly journals. He teaches French language, French Literature and Culture, Foreign Language and Culture Pedagogy, and has a California State Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language. He is multilingual, volunteers as an advanced soccer referee, and competes as a sprinter on the international level in Master's track and field.
