Hudson County authorities say the car jumped a curb around 9:50 p.m. Friday and struck 20-year-old Michael Viruet and his 11-year-old brother, Adrian Viruet. The driver then fled the scene, and authorities say the vehicle was severely damaged in the accident.

A MIDDLE ISLAND man pleaded not guilty yesterday to charges of assaulting an off-duty police officer by dragging the cop 100 feet with his car after an altercation.
