Deborah Nourse Lattimore has traveled all over the world as a scholar, an artist, and a writer. Deborah has written and/or illustrated over 35 books, including Cinderhazel, Zekmet the Stone Carver, and The Dragon’s Robe, which received a P.E.N. Literary Award and was nominated for the Caldecott medal. Deborah loves creating picture books that take young readers on amazing journeys back through time to ancient and mysterious cultures. When she’s not writing or illustrating, Deborah often teaches at UCLA, the Pasadena Art Center College of Design, and the Otis School of Art.

    Pharaoh Khafre commands his vizier, Ho-tep, to create another monument for his glory. To help accomplish this, Ho-Tep luckily meets Zekmet, a stone carver, who negotiates his idea and carving of the great Sphinx in exchange for a donkey, a farm, and immortality.
